How to import an ICEPUNK MIDI file into Ableton Live.

Use ICEPUNK to make a MIDI starting point, then bring the downloaded .mid file into Ableton Live and shape it with your own instruments and arrangement.

The short route

From generation to arrangement.

    Generate a MIDI pack

    Open the ICEPUNK web studio, choose your source and musical settings, then generate a pack.

  2. 02

    Download the idea you want

    Preview the patterns, then download an individual .mid file or the pack. Keep the file somewhere easy to find in your project folder.

  3. 03

    Import it into Ableton Live

    Drag the downloaded .mid file from your computer into an Ableton Live MIDI track or Session View. Ableton creates a MIDI clip that you can open in the Clip View editor.

  4. 04

    Make it yours

    Load an instrument on the track, then edit the clip’s notes, timing and velocity to fit your track. Build the surrounding arrangement with your own sound choices.
